The Somaliland Innovations and Cultural Week Summit is a six-day gathering that will bring together key stakeholders in innovation, business incubation, and youth-led organizations.

Our Objectives

  • Empower dynamic forces to actively shape policies affecting them and their communities.

  • Advocate for the integration of locally derived solutions into the broader national agenda.

  • Foster sustainable change and positively influence the trajectory of societies.

  • Provide a platform for meaningful engagement and dialogue between government officials, policymakers, and youth leaders.

Our Vision

We aim to empower youth to actively influence policies, creating a resilient and prosperous society through collaboration, dialogue, and sustainable change.

Prior to the main summit, youth leaders will participate in an impactful two-day training program. This training will empower future leaders to effectively advocate for pressing issues that impact their communities, ensuring these concerns are connected to the public agenda. Participants will learn to align community priorities with local, regional, and national development plans, influence policies, and take the lead in local activities that support community well-being through proactive volunteerism.

The Agenda

  • The Borama event titled “Revolutionizing the Employment Sector: A Journey to Future-Ready Skills” offers insights into the changing employment landscape, focusing on vital skills for success in tomorrow's job market. Addressing technological advancements, economic shifts, and sustainability, it provides a platform for industry leaders, policymakers, educators, and professionals to share expertise and discuss emerging trends. Key objectives include identifying high-demand skills and fostering innovation. Through speeches, panels, showcases, and presentations, attendees explore topics such as freelancing, AI, upskilling, and green skills. Collaboration and networking opportunities empower individuals to adapt and thrive in the evolving job market.

  • In Gabiley, the impactful event "Constructively Uplifting Societal Awareness on Adverse Effects of FGM and Early Marriage," unites women to address pressing issues of FGM and early marriage, fostering greater societal awareness. Through keynote speeches, expert presentations, and survivor testimonials, participants are empowered to advocate for change. The event creates a safe space for dialogue and collaboration among diverse stakeholders, aiming to challenge harmful traditions, protect vulnerable individuals, and promote gender equality. Targeting women from Gabiley and beyond, as well as NGOs and government agencies, it mobilizes a broad coalition to drive policy change and create a more inclusive society.

  • The interactive event in Berbera, "Fostering Innovative Fishery: Exploring Existing Challenges and Opportunities," aims to address the industry's need for innovation and ingenuity. It bridges traditional wisdom with modern approaches to empower participants in identifying challenges, seizing opportunities, and promoting sustainable growth. Crucial for the region's economy, the fishery sector faces challenges like declining stocks and outdated practices. By fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among diverse stakeholders, the event seeks to unlock the sector's potential for innovation-driven solutions. Targeting a diverse audience, including fishers, government officials, and entrepreneurs, it aims to drive tangible improvements in resilience and socio-economic impact.

  • In Burao, A Tech Hackathon themed "Harnessing Technological Opportunities for Development," will be held in collaboration with Orbit College. This event will foster creativity, teamwork, and rapid project development to address real challenges. It aims to create a collaborative environment leveraging technology as a catalyst for growth, contributing to Somaliland's broader development by fostering innovation in Burao City. This dynamic event emphasizes the role of technology in driving development and innovation, serving as a platform for teams to collaborate and innovate in a condensed timeframe, ultimately contributing to the city's growth and prosperity.

  • On the fifth and sixth days, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship summit will commence. Thought leaders are set to share valuable perspectives during the Keynote Speakers session, offering insights into Somaliland's upcoming innovation landscape. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore showcased products from local startups and cultural organizations, connecting with visionaries shaping the future. Panel discussions will delve into global funding, business empowerment, and ecosystem building, providing valuable insights.
