GEW: Global Entrepreneurship Week
Global Entrepreneurship Week is a celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. During one week, each November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.
We are a community of doers, makers and creators across Somaliand who are helping new entrepreneurs get started and young firms become successful. We also have an innovation hub dedicated for young talented entrepreneurs and tech-makers across Somaliland. Shaqodoon Organization is the GEW country host organization in Somaliland. Since we were nominated to be GEW country host partner, Shaqodoon hosted 5 successive events (except 2018 which its preparation is ongoing) engaging over thousands participants including, youth, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and business leaders.
Shaqodoon makes the week lively by getting together variety of groups for networking opportunities and information coordination. Since the first GEW was held, a tremendous impact have been observed in our country particularly in the areas of tech, startups and SMEAs. This year, we expect the GEW to have more impact and reach more towns in the country by getting together young talented entrepreneurs and tech makers including woman.
