Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding Platforms

A quick and easy way to raise funds online and via mobile and bank payment gateways. Crowdfunding enables communities to create action plans for development projects, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship; this supports local engagement, transparency, and accountability. Communities are empowered through this direct access to members of the local community and the diaspora for contributions and long-term investment.

  • Multiple Payment Options

Shaqodoon’s crowdfunding platforms are all connected to the largest banks operating in Somaliland, South Central Somalia,  and Puntland. These include Dahabshiil, Salaama Som, Salaama Bank, and Darasalaam Bank.  The platform is also connected to mobile money payment systems such as Zaad, EVC, and e-Dahab, e-Sahal.

  • Transparency and Accountability

Online visitors can keep up-to-date on active projects online, allowing them visibility into how much each project has raised, project implementation status, how many people have backed a project, and more. This enables donors and contributors to trust in project implementation, and creates accountability for those responsible for project delivery.

  • Fund Matching

The local community raises funds (cash or in-kind contributions) for their development plans using telecom mobile payment services, mobilizing resources from local and diaspora members. To encourage community ownership, donors and governments match community contributions. These matched funds are deposited into community-managed bank accounts; communities are trained on governance and procurement procedures ensuring efficient fund management.
