10 Year Anniversary Celebration & Shaqodoon’s Brand Refresh

Shaqodoon organization celebrated the 10 year anniversary of its founding in 2011. In celebration of many achievements, Shaqodoon hosted a series of exciting events throughout the month of  November at its offices in Somalia and Somaliland. These events included the annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), LEAD program entrepreneurship awarding event, and enterprise networking event intended to showcase Shaqodoon’s milestones in the last 10 years, while looking to forward to future opportunities. 

Shaqodoon Celebrates 10-years of Impacts  

2021 has been a significant year in Shaqodoon’s history: the organization celebrated its 10 year anniversary and completed a restructuring process that will set the course for future. A colourful and highly publicized events to commemorates the organization’s 10-year anniversary was conducted in all its offices country-wide. Even though the events took place on different days to accommodate the on-going program activities, the message was the same, celebrating the 10 year long impacts of the organization.

The events from all regional offices and our head-quarter was attended by professionals from different industries and backgrounds, government officials from more than two state ministries such ministries of youth and sports, labor and social affairs, commerce/trade and industries and few other officials from local/state government organs, our private sector organizations such as banks representatives, NGOs and the academia and members from the communities each of these three locations.

At our 10-year anniversary event in Hargeisa, our CEO presided with Shaqodoon program team. He made mentioned the journey of Shaqodoon organization, its milestone and how the organization is planning to achieve more in the years to come.  

“As we celebrate Shaqodoon organization 10 years anniversary, we thank Allah, our staff who have been a backbone to our success over the years, government authorities across our areas of operations, telecom companies, banks and the youth who have participated and benefited from our programs for 10 years of impact”, says Mustafa, Shaqodoon Chief Executive office.

Technology for development, a key pillar and what makes Shaqodoon work unique was adversely recognized as a major contributor of achievements made over the years by Shaqodoon organization. Mustafa while applauding the role of telecommunications to help Shaqodoon develop technology products said,

“Shaqodoon worked to utilize AI to connect to international non-profits, donors, and aid agencies directly to their beneficiaries. Real-time feedback and response. This has been made possible with great partnerships with telecom companies.”

Commemorating the 10 years of impact of the organization in a colorful gathering organized by Shaqodoon staff in Mogadishu at Pizza house, Mohamed Khalif, Deputy CEO, Shaqodoon Organization briefed the audience about the organizations work and particularly its achievements and future plans. 

A short but very illustrative video showcasing milestones and journey of the organization was played to ensure participants are well acquainted with the organization’s work, its unique programming and how it has been shaping out over the years. 

Similarly, in Garowe, colourful event celebrating Shaqodoon’s 10-year anniversary was conducted where Prominent members from Government officials, youth associations, universities, banks sectors, local businesses, local and international NGOs actively participated in the event.

State Minister of Labor, Youth and Sports hon. Fardowsa Osman, who spoke at event commended the role and the partnership her ministry enjoys with Shaqodoon organization and wished Shaqodoon many more years of success ahead. 

Mohamed Said, Salama Bank’s Puntland representative, underscored their interest as a bank to advance partnership and collaboration with Shaqodoon organization. 

“We thank Shaqodoon on their support for the Somali youth, our nation’s future leaders, as a bank we’ve partnered with Shaqodoon on multiple areas from SME financing to technology for development, this partnership has resulted the emergence of innovative technology products like Bulshokaab and Sookaab and we look forward to working with Shaqodoon in all its endeavors to empowering youth in Somalia”.

A member of parliament from Puntland State government hon. Abdirahman Jama who was also invited in the event shared his experience with Shaqodoon organization as he was once a beneficiary of Shaqodoon organization. 

“It’s my pleasure and, an honor, to participate in this event and celebrate with Shaqodoon team on their anniversary”, he continued, “I was once a beneficiary of Shaqodoon, and I’ve gained valuable skills on accounting and bookkeeping, I later worked with this same organization on community crowdfunding projects where through this initiative we’ve helped Hadhwanaag community realized their first primary school where pupils are studying up to today” the audience applauded. 

Partners and other guests who spoke in these events highly praised the great work Shaqodoon is doing and has achieved over the years to combat unemployment and support youth and women through skill development, mentorship and supporting youth enterprise to be competitive in the commerce world thus becoming prosperous and job creators.



Shaqodoon Unveils Brand Refresh and New Website

Part of Shaqodoon’s 10-year anniversary celebration, the organization has rebranded and launched its redesigned website and logo. The brand refresh reflects Shaqodoon roots and values. The refresh includes a re-designed logo, overall brand, visualization, and a new website. 

Shaqodoon is a regional non-profit organization that is registered in Somalia, Somaliland, Kenya, and Ethiopia and has most of its operations in Somalia and Somaliland. Shaqodoon organization designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the local most urgent challenges.

“We’re excited to unveil Shaqodoon’s new logo and website. Our brand refresh are a year long input and collaboration that resulted these elements that effectively represent the organization we’ve become over the past ten years” stated Abdikarim, Shaqodoon communications specialist.

“Views solicited from Shaqodoon management, membership, and other stakeholders from within and beyond the shaqodoon community solidified the need for a brand refresh to align our visual and written presentation with the organization’s reputation,” said Mustafa, CEO- Shaqodoon Organization.

The updated look has been developed by Shaqodoon team from departmental leads such communications, program, and senior management staff and in collaboration with a consultant, Mrs. Lindsay, a brand communications specialist. 

Initial meetings were held by the team aimed to deliberate on the organization’s objectives, pillars centred on the old brand, organization’s vision and mission including milestones so that the new brand reflect the new Shaqodoon grounding all brand materials on the journey, achievement, and the goal that the organization is striving towards.  

The logos developed were chosen by electronic votes.  The voters were Staff members, board of directors, partners, and friends of Shaqodoon.  Below are the logo options put forward for voting. 

  • 1st logo: 32/72 votes- Winner

  • 2nd logo: 13/72 votes

  • 3rd logo: 7/72 votes

  • 4th logo: 20/72 vote
